How To Do Writing

Assalamualaikum

First words, I'm not good at writing and giving advice. But it worth trying, I means the tips. If that doesn't work for me, maybe that works for others.

Do you love writing but having trouble to get it started/done without end up yourself emotionally distracted or turning the reader into a sleeping beauty?

Then, try the Tips:

HOW DO YOU START A BOOK
There is no guidelines, no magic bullets for the right order. Others may works differently. But someone may prefer with characters or plot first then dialogue. It depends.

HOW TO CREATE THE IDEAS
It's all yours. Everything you see everyday. Everything you hear everyday. Everything that come into your mind everyday. Everything you experience everyday. You see a person standing crying alone in the rain and you think "who is she, what hurt her so much that she cried all wet in the rain?" The answers make up the ideas. Good ideas or not, up to you.

HOW TO HANDLE TROUBLE WITH THE CHARACTERS
Ask yourself, is the character develop or believable? What groups he's in? Is he Hariz (Ombak Rindu) prototype or Edward Cullen's (Twilight)? What the character want, do they get it, how does getting or not getting change the storyline? Character development worksheets online might be helpful.

HOW TO GET CONTINUOUSLY INSPIRED AND MOTIVATED
Always been motivated and inspired person is not really my type. Ask yourself first. Writing, is it for fun or a job? If it is a job to you, no one I've known from my entire life that never been bored or distracted in doing their job. If you're not an inborn talent writer, then work harder

HOW TO HANDLE BACKSTORY
Do not disorients the reader with your confusing backstory. Backstory, or a character's past, is often necessary to explain a character's motivations. Take this advice, do not present it in the first capter because the reader isn't invested enough in the character to care about what happened to them previously. There are several ways to present backstory: flashback / discussion about the past / summary of past action.

HOW TO PLOT
Characters, actions, settings- make up a plot. Awesome character + interesting situation + Choices of action = element of the storyline. If you're stuck at plotting, make an outline first before start writing.

HOW TO CREATE A GOOD, NOT A CHILDISH DIALOGUE
Here's a tip. Read it loudly, does it sound like someone would actually say?

HOW TO IMPROVE MY WORK
Find a critique group to read your work. Do not underused/misused our modern technology and social network. There are so many online-reader outside there!! Then you'll know if your work is too much or not good enough. Besides, there are so many novels on the market which are worth reading. But be a writer using your own style, not 'copy' others. Most important, do not give up on writing or you'll be one of many rusty iron. Good Luck.
